David Khalil   Artist's Statement                     "I aim to take the time and effort to create meaningful finished mosaic products while experimenting with colors, shades, shapes and various cuts of each fragment to create radiant textures. I found creating mosaics allows me to embrace a sense of freedom that would be impossible to express with words. I enjoy the problem solving process of the design phase, and collaborating with architects, designers and other contractors. The inspiration comes from my Egyptian heritage, the beauty of nature, cultures, and my Christian beliefs. They lend themselves as subjects to enhance the awesome heights mosaic arts can reach through creativity. The sense of everlasting and longevity is also satisfying, considering the mosaics have been alive for centuries, and will outlast our lifetimes, traditions, cultures, and religions.        Mosaic artwork in public and private places provide us with every-day with experiences that leap beyond the mundane. Intriguing, delighting, educating, and even challenging , the artwork we develop is a staple to what we bleieve will make a statement about the customer's taste and about us, as the crafters. Mosaic art has the power to ignite our imaginations, to bring us into another plane of thought. Mosaic art promotes the manifestations of our dreams, and what we formerly considered dreams, taking qualities in our environment and of the nature, and from that making a tribute to Mother Nature, while making history of our cultural traditions the foundation of every piece."
